SITANSHU YASHASCHANDRA'S POEM & ECOCRITICISM BY DEVANG NANAVATI..
Hello, my dear readers and respected sir, here I've wrote about tuesday's session which was on Sitanshu Yashaschandra's poem and Ecocriticism by Devang Nanavati...

Her leaves shimmering in the wind,
Dancing so gracefully.
The strength of her mighty roots
That grows deep into the earth.
She's weathered every stormy gale
For all that she is worth.
Standing tall, resilient
With her branches lifted high,
She refused to bow, to break or bend
But reaches upward to the sky.
The beauty of the strength within
As she held her head up high.
Her strong resilient spirit
Grew wings and learned to fly.

This is the screenshot of live session which I've attended, where devang nanavati sir gave presentation on Sitanshu Yashaschandra's poem "TREE ONCE AGAIN"...
"TREE ONCE AGAIN"
Sitanshu Yashaschandra Mehta (born 1941), better known as Sitanshu Yashaschandra, is a Gujarati language poet, playwright, translator and academic from India.
He is the President of Gujarati Sahitya Parishad. He was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award for Gujarati given by Sahitya Akademi, India's National Academy of Letters, writer in 1987 for his poetry collection Jatayu. Subsequently, he was awarded the PadmaShri, the fourth highest civilian award by Government of India, in 2006.
A poem "ફરી પાછું વૃક્ષ " is taken from a book "ઓડિસ્યૂસ નું હલેસું ", which was written by Sitanshu Yashaschandra.
In this poem, poet remembers the tree which was located in their garden from many years. Later on he cut down that tree for creating several things like furniture, book shelf, cupboard, chair, table etc.
Now, after so many years he remembers that tree, that beautiful blue flower, juicy fruit which hangs on that tree, leaves, birds and their cute voices. But at this time what he can do is nothing for the tree.
Here, i would like to upload the photographs of poem in gujarati & english translation.
English version of poem "TREE ONCE AGAIN"
ECOCRITICISM
Environmental criticism, also known as ecocriticism and “green” criticism (especially in England), is a rapidly emerging field of literary study that considers the relationship that human beings have to the environment.Environmental critics explore how nature and the natural world are imagined through literary texts.
Ecocriticism is the study of literature and environment from an interdisciplinary point of view where all sciences come together to analyze the environment and brainstorm possible solutions for the correction of the contemporary environmental situation.
" Much ecocriticism has taken for granted that its task is to overcome anthropocentrism, just as feminism seeks to overcome androcentrism. The metaphysical argument for biocentrism is meant to sustain moral claims about the intrinsic value of the natural world, which will in turn affect our attitudes and behaviour towards nature."
- Greg Garrard
In comparison with other 'political' forms of criticism, there has been relatively little dispute about the moral and philosophical aims of ecocriticism, although its scope has broadened from nature writing, romantic poetry, and canonical literature to take in film, television, theatre, animal stories, architectures, scientific narratives and an extraordinary range of literary texts. At the same time, ecocriticism has borrowed methodologies and theoretically informed approaches liberally from other fields of literary, social and scientific study.
People are attracted to live, work and invest in green surroundings. Research shows that average house prices are 5-18% higher when properties are close to mature trees. Companies benefit from a healthier, happier workforce if there are parks and trees nearby.
I'm presenting a poem I've read on internet about the tree by Gabby Mac.
Can there be anything more lovely
Than the beauty of a tree? Her leaves shimmering in the wind,
Dancing so gracefully.
The strength of her mighty roots
That grows deep into the earth.
She's weathered every stormy gale
For all that she is worth.
Standing tall, resilient
With her branches lifted high,
She refused to bow, to break or bend
But reaches upward to the sky.
The beauty of the strength within
As she held her head up high.
Her strong resilient spirit
Grew wings and learned to fly.

Here, I'm presenting some photographs of our DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH mkbu.
In 2008, our building appears like this, which is not attractive. We can't imagine to study here because students likes greenery at their coaching area or building.
And then here is the photograph of what we got in few years... The building looks attractive by the trees. Nature heals us.
"THE GREENER THE SETTING,
THE MORE THE RELIEF "....
