Revolution 2020: Love, Corruption, Ambition is a 2011 novel by Chetan Bhagat. Its story is concerned with a love triangle, corruption and a journey of self-discovery. R2020 has addressed the issue of how private coaching institutions exploit aspiring engineering students and how parents put their lifetime's earnings on stake for these classes so that their children can crack engineering exams and change the fortune of the family. While a handful accomplish their dreams, others sink into disaster.
The author stated that the novel is based on the "rampant corruption" apparent in the Indian educational system, with the choice of Varanasi as a setting emerging through "a special connection to the city" following his visit. He further said "it is one of our oldest cities, and people there now have modern aspirations. I thought the contrast would be interesting. The city also has a lot of character."
1) If you were to adapt this novel for the screen, what sort of the changes you would make in the story and characters to make it better than the novel?
Ans -
If i adapt this novel for the screen i would like to make a change in story and characters. I would like to tell the story from the perspective of Raghav rather then Gopal. And i would like to make Aarti's character strong. She should help Raghav in his achievement throughout the story, not like this what's in the existed story that she can't make sure who's his true lover Raghav or Gopal. The end of the story from my perspective should end when Raghav got the seat and he started his work on revolution.
2) 'For a true revolutionist this story the novel is terribly disappointing '. Do you agree? If Yes what sort of would you make in characters or situation to make it a perfect revolutionary novel. If you disagree what is in the novel tgat is satisfied?
Ans -
Yes, it is true because the story revolves around the theme of Love only. We can't find Revolution more in the story. It should have more of revolution rather tgan Love. The story should tale from the perspective of Raghav not Gopal. Because Raghav is for revolution and Gopal is for Love. The story title contains Revolution more so they should write about revolution more. But it shows more about love only. From my perspective Raghav should have become CM and should make changes in the society and make revolution as superior. The character of Aarti should have in support of Raghav rather than Gopal. She shoul hace strong character.
